Aston Martin unveiled the Ian Callum designed ‘Project Vantage’ at the North American International Auto Show, Detroit, in 1998. Such was the interest in the car that Aston Martin decided to put the car into production as the V12 ‘Vanquish’. Introduced at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, with only minor changes to Callum’s original design it had a 5.9 litre V12 engine developing 450hp and was revolutionary in its aluminium and carbon composite structure, drive by wire throttle and electro hydraulic manual transmission. It appeared in the 2002 Bond movie ‘Die Another Day’ and was named in the top three best film cars ever alongside the ‘Italian Job’ minis and the DB5 from ‘Goldfinger’!
The Vanquish was produced up to 2004 and only 1400 cars were made before the announcement of the Vanquish ‘S’ at the Paris Auto Show that year.
Produced in relatively few numbers by today’s standards, particularly in RHD form, the Aston Martin Vanquish has become a true ‘Modern Classic’. The last hand-built model ever to come out of Newport Pagnell before its closure, the Vanquish has become truly collectable with demand, and subsequently prices, steadily increasing over the last few years.
A 2+2 model, this particular Vanquish was specified in Jet Black with Dark Tan interior trim, and is one of only a relative handful supplied in this unusual colour combination. Other options include red brake callipers, chrome door handles, heated windscreen, Linn hi-fi, heated seats and Alcantara quilted headlining. This car also incorporates some Vanquish ‘S’ improvements including the larger vented and grooved brake discs and pads.
Chassis No ‘501444’ was first registered in the UK on 27th September 2004 as ‘LO54 DWA’ and the following year was taken by its first owner, Mr David Pitcher, to Ireland where it was registered ’04 D 72719’. A resident of Malahide, Co. Dublin, Mr Pitcher kept the Aston until the beginning of 2011 when ownership passed to Mr Connolly, who owned the car until 2013. Its next custodian Mr Patchell owned the Aston until 2015 when it was purchased by the current keeper, brought back to the UK and re-united with its original UK registration number.
Recording regular servicing, the accompanying service booklet has been stamped 11 times by Aston Martin Dealers and twice by the current owner’s local specialist. Only some 2,000 miles have been covered in the last three years, and the car remains in generally excellent condition.
Consistently well cared for and ready to drive and enjoy, this exciting Aston Martin supercar is offered with sundry bills, current MOT and the aforementioned service history.
