This Aston Martin V8 Auto saloon was originally registered in August 1976 and left the Newport Pagnell factory in its original Imperial Blue with Natural Connolly Leather and Woburn Sand carpets. Its first owner was the ‘Bylander Waddell Partnership Ltd’ from Wembley, a firm of consulting engineers and the V8 was for the use of one of the partners, a Mr Lightband. They had their car serviced and maintained exclusively by marque specialist Ian Mason who looked after the V8 for the first 10 years of its life with a ‘no expense spared’ attitude the Aston had no fewer than 33 visits to Ian’s Freston Road workshops! Bylander Waddell parted with the V8 in 1987 when it was sold to Mr Corlett from Douglas, Isle of Man by which time the car had covered 75,000 miles. Mr Colett only kept the car for a couple of years before it came into the hands of long-term owner Mike Whipp also from the Dependency. The fact that Mr Whipp took the car from the Isle of Man to the Newport Pagnell factory for most of its maintenance shows what a diligent owner he was. One of these visits to the factory in 1993 at 84,000 miles was for some extensive restoration work that included chassis, body and sill work, bare metal re-spray in BRG, full engine re-build, suspension, brakes, steering re-builds, new screens, re-Connollising and re-carpeting the interior amongst others. Mr Whipp eventually parted company with his car in 2007 when it came into the hands of Mr Marsom of Manx Radio for a short time. The V8 had spent more than 30 years on the Isle of Man before eventually returning to the UK mainland under its next keeper Mr Cooke from Cornwall who acquired the car in 2008 by which time it had covered 104,000 miles. Mr Cooke trusted his maintenance to RS Williams before parting company with it in 2011 when it came under the ownership of Mr Warrener from Perry Vale, London. Although he only kept the car briefly, Mr Warrener continued its maintenance with Richard Williams before asking them to sell the car for him which they duly did in 2012 to the current owner. The new owner has entrusted Desmond J Smail Ltd with the maintenance of his V8 despite only having covered a few thousand miles under his ownership. This exceptionally well looked after Aston Martin V8 Saloon remains in superb condition, comes with one of the most comprehensive history files we have seen and is one of the best driving examples we have come across!
