Overview

Born from the American market's desires, the Aston Martin V8 Volante, a symbol of open-top luxury, initially graced the roads in 1978. However, it wasn't until 1986 that it received the coveted Vantage treatment, bestowing upon it an engine boasting around 400bhp. The transformation was more than just under the bonnet. Flared wheel arches aggressively widened the stance, while a newly added boot spoiler hinted at increased performance. An extended front spoiler further amplified its sporting intentions. Replacing the classic chrome sill covers were extensions crafted from lightweight fiberglass. The resulting aesthetic was one of raw power, a visually assertive machine that could legitimately lay claim to the title of world's fastest convertible. This particular example, equipped with the optional 'X-Pack' engine pushing up to a staggering 432bhp, further solidified that claim. With a mere 166 Vantage Volantes completed by December 1989, with only 78 being right-hand drive, it remains a rare and highly sought-after jewel in Aston Martin's post-war crown.
