Overview

The definition of a GT4 car is a ‘gentleman’s racer’, an eligible car with minor modifications from the standard build to suit the extreme conditions put on a car for racing, with FIA approved levels of safety equipment. This project followed similarities to the classic DB4 GT’s built by Aston Martin when just 75 examples were built with the remaining cars becoming extremely rare and collectable.

The Aston Martin N24 project was conceived to produce a competitive GT4 car based on their very successful V8 Vantage road car. Production started in 2007 with the first 14 examples being produced by Aston Martin themselves and subsequently moved to their affiliated preparation partner and leading Motorsport company Prodrive who produced a further 39 examples.

The Vantage N24 was based on a standard left hand drive European production V8 Vantage but stripped bare achieving a 250kg weight reduction, with engine modifications to give an additional 30bhp plus suspension, brakes and aerodynamic modifications.

This car, chassis noS004, the fourth car built by Prodrive, was purchased by Concord Motorsport for the inaugural Aston Martin Asia Cup season in 2008. The team went on to compete the Asia Cup the following season and then in the GT Asia (GT4 class) in 2010 and 2011. Its honours included Aston Martin Asia Cup Winner 2009, GT4 Asia Plus Team Championship Winner 2010, Highest points scorer GT4 Asia Plus Team Championship 2011.

This car was fully maintained throughout with race preparation and end of season overhaul carried out to the highest standards and for the 2011 season the engine was upgraded with a new 4.7 litre unit.

Purchased from Concord in 2013 by Desmond J Smail the car was initially dry stored and then fully prepared for competition with engine, gearbox and suspension re-builds and fresh paint to the bodywork all carried out by renowned racing specialists, Mardi Gras Motorsport. The N24 has had minimal use since then.
